Setting up feet height on the erg. Preventing injury, maximizing power.

Concept2 designed their footboards with a wedge at the top.  The height of the wedge compared to the height of the seat was chosen completely arbitrarily.  That height leads rowers to set their feet chronically too low.  It leads to tibias overcompression, which can lead to sore knees.  With the feet being too low, the horizontal stroke length is artificially shortened and the catch turnaround power without the help of muscle and tendon elasticity.
